I feel, I did a reasonable amount of research on Blu-rey players before making this purchase. For my own personal requirements this item fits my needs. I also felt it had one of the best overall reputations for support, picture quality and sound quality. However, I really have no other Blu-rey player on hand to do a side by side comparison. So my comments are simply that “my comments”. I whole-heartily agree with what most of my research revealed. This is a very good Blu-rey player and in my mind has excellent picture and sound quality. I would highly recommend this unit if it fits you needs, requirements and desirements.

just got this blu ray player only a few weeks ago, and so far so good. awesome sound and picture. at a price that you can’t touch. this player has not froze up on me at all. and i had not even updated the firmware yet. have now updated the firmware so i cant wait to check it out now!!! so glad i decided to go with this blu ray player…

I haven’t had any issues with quality (picture, sound or otherwise) or ability to play anything. It’s a little slow getting started but works fine once playback starts. You can’t drive speakers directly from the player (except for 2-channel stereo) but who has a 5.1 or 7.1 set of speakers you plug directly into your Blu-ray player anyhow? The digital optical sound output works fine with my 6-year-old Yamaha receiver. If all you need is a decent Blu-ray player, this one fits the bill at a very reasonable price. The user interface for finding material on Amazon Video-on-Demand is pretty bad but just having the capability is a feature.

Can’t address how durable the player is, but set up is very easy, performance is great, communication between the player and a new Panasonic plasma HDTV is smooth, reliable and fascinating, as is communication via VieraCast over ethernet cable. Very pleased with product and with Amazon’s quick fulfillment of order.
